Worst: I don't know what I was thinking when I took a job which required a two-hour commute *each way*.

Better: I was spoiled in my younger years by a series of jobs which required only a twenty-five-minute walk.

Best: telecommuting. It's 2008 already! We shouldn't have traffic jams anymore, because so many of our jobs can be done remotely.

Advice: don't accept a commute to a job in the USA if you must transfer between transit lines. Missing a train or bus in our at best rudimentary public transit systems will often mean at least a half-hour wait until the next one.

Since I was in first grade, I have had exactly one motorized commute to school or job, and that lasted about a week. Everywhere else was walking distance, and I found the walk to be one of the most productive parts of my day: energy, stimulation, and an opportunity to organize my thoughts. Working from home ain't bad either!

I used to live 1.5 blocks away from my job back in Fargo, ND. it was great to ride the bike to the office, then back home for lunch, then back to the office for the afternoon. i saved money on gas and on food!

my worst commute was my daily slog down from Woodinville to Redmond. the freeway was still the fastest way to get to and from work, and it sucked. But now I'm riding the Microsoft busses every single day and love it. I just throw on my music and sleep until we get to my stop, then its a short car ride up the hill to home. I'm hoping this summer to be able to ride my bike to and from the bus stop!
