Hello, Anonymous Commenter. I'm not sure I get the analogy. I'm not competing with Guru.com. Guru.com is not taking any "business" away from me. I'm a freelance writer. Not a freelance job listing/bidding clearinghouse like Guru. Do you see any revenue-earning job listings on this blog (or in my book for that matter)? MB, a new freelancer, asked for an opinion and I gave it, in an effort to be useful. End of story.

I gotta say... this reads like a local bookseller reviewing Amazon.

I signed on with Guru last summer with the basic (free) membership level, figuring I needed all the work I could get. At first I was really excited about all the prospects coming in, and started sending in bids. I landed a project pretty much right away. It was fine.

Overall, though, I just felt like the quality of the projects presented was really poor--lame and low-paying. Of course, maybe that was because I was only on the basic/free level.

It had taken forever to enter my profile into the program, so I was hesitant to delete it. But by the end of the summer, I did.
