August 29th, 2008

My So-Called Freelance LifeSeems like only yesterday I was writing the epilogue of this puppy. And now it’s almost ready to head out into the world. My So-Called Freelance Life: How to Survive and Thrive as a Creative Professional for Hire, published by Seal Press, is due in stores at the beginning of October. (!) But if you don’t want to wait that long to get 220 pages of freelancing tips by yours truly, you can pre-order your copy now.

If you’d like to help me celebrate, ask me a question in the flesh, or just say hello, here are some Seattle dates to add to your calendar (more events TBD):

What: Reading and Q&A at 7 pm; schmoozing/boozing before and after

Reading and book signing – October 25
When:
2 pm on a Saturday

What: “Pitching Nonfiction Articles that Sell,” 75-minute workshop at weekend writers’ conference

If you join me at any of these events, don’t be shy — be sure to say hello! And if you’d like me to talk to your creative, freelance, or professional group, send me an email. If I can’t come in person, maybe we can arrange a group phone or web chat.

I am ridiculously excited for this book. Your Anti 9-to-5 Guide provided the impetus for me taking the necessary steps to leave a full-time job I was miserable at. Thanks for being so awesome!

    Hi Michelle!

I’m doing a mini book launch dinner here for your new book! Sounds silly yes but it’s going to be an amazing book and I can’t wait to see it in the flesh!

Do you have an expected date for it to hit book stores in Canada? I keep checking and although it says that the publishing date is today, it doesn’t say when it’ll be in stock.

    Can’t wait!

    Erin

Erin, that’s awesome!! Thank you! Let me know what day. Maybe I can call and say hello on speaker phone or something. And if anyone else out of town wants to do the same, let me know. My offer to call in for a few minutes stands. Also, checking on the Canada ship date and will let you know. -M

That’s great. I’m new to the site, but as someone who runs a site for freelancers to I can tell you it is hard to find quality resources. Kudos on the book!
